The Minister explained that the freezing of the accounts forms part of ongoing investigations being conducted by the appropriate state institutions. Authorities may take this action if they suspect that the accounts could be linked to financial irregularities, ongoing legal disputes, or matters of public interest that require careful examination.

The Minister also emphasized that the government respects the rule of law and due process, and that every individual whose account has been frozen has the right to challenge the decision through the appropriate legal channels. If the investigations find no wrongdoing, the accounts may be unfrozen and normal transactions restored. However, if any violations are discovered, the matter could proceed to court for further legal action.

In the case of Chairman Wontumi, the freezing of his accounts, including his Mobile Money wallet, means he is currently unable to carry out financial transactions using those accounts. This restriction may affect personal, business, or political activities that depend on the use of those funds. Such actions, however, are not uncommon during investigations involving high-profile individuals, especially when authorities believe that financial records are important to the case.
